Congratulations to Chris Streett, Best Of Winner!
By: Julie Hess
Congratulations to our very own Chris Street who won “Best Real Estate Agent ” Best of Harford in 2017! I sat down with Chris to pick his brain on the subject of Real Estate.
How long have you been in Real Estate?
Why did you choose Real Estate as your profession?
I’m an entrepreneur by nature. I love the freedom to make my own schedule and the opportunity to carve out my own path to success. I enjoy working with people, so being in sales is a great way to combine my people skills with my insight for business.
Who would you say your role model is in terms of your profession?
I would say that my role models are people who have a high standard of excellence and have guided me on best practices in business and business ethics. My father Dr. Dick Streett and my business partner Tim Hopkins come to mind.
What qualities would you want in an agent that you try to embody?
When you’re in the business of selling and finding people the place they call home, or their business it is important to be confident, organized, trustworthy and proactive. You need to be a good listener and use both intuition and experience to make sure that you understand your clients needs and wants as well as working knowledge of the current market to get the best value.
What advice would you give to an agent who is just starting out?
* You get out what you put in.
* Be willing to learn from every experience and keep an open mind.
* Get involved! Volunteer in the community and attend professional events.
* Your name = Your Brand
What do you wish more people knew about your line of work?
There is a lot more to the transactions than you see on TV. Agents are skilled and educated in the processes of:
* Home inspections
* Legal Ramifications
Professional realtors hold themselves to high ethical standards.
Don’t believe everything you see online. A search bar doesn’t equate to the services a Realtor can offer. A good agent can:
* Educate their client on the market
Explain how current trends relate to their property
* Offer a fair market value price for their home from an unbiased viewpoint
* Expedite the process and make the whole experience a lot more enjoyable.
How do you predict your profession will change in the next 5 years and how are you planning on staying relevant.
Obviously changes in technology are rapid and constant. We utilize the resources we have at hand to stay on top of current trends. We will continue to learn and use the newest and most effective technology to add value to our service, by staying in the know and making connections both with others in our profession and our clients. The need for a well educated and connected real estate broker will remain constant despite changes in technology.
What are you most proud of?
My family is very important to me, they are at the heart of everything I do. On the business side, I am most proud of opening this brokerage and the success it has had during the initial years. I take a lot of pride in cultivating a positive work atmosphere.
What are your dreams for your company?
I want the company to continue to grow both in size and in it’s presence in the area. Giving back to the community is a high importance for our brokerage.
